However, that’s not always realistic, particularly if you’re here for a long time. So here is a quick guide to where you can go easily to pack up on goods.
Before you venture out to any of these grocery stores or convenience stores be sure to check their hours and that they are open. This is the country after all, you need to double-check things are open before you make that drive.
Pecks Market (Eldred, NY)
This is our favorite grocery store in the area and only about 15 minute drive. We love to buy local meat and produce from here when we can’t make it to the farmer’s market. This is our favorite traditional grocery store in the area.
This is the closet grocery store to Clearing Farm and is geared at value shoppers. It’s a nice place to stop if you’re in a pinch and need to dash in to find food at a cheap price.
A popular chain grocery store with everything you need, and only about 20 minutes away from the farm. This is a great grocery store to stop at if you’re coming in from New York City; perfectly along the way when you pull off the 84 highway from the city or Middletown.
This is our favorite convenience store in the area, mainly because of the authentic vibe inside the place and the incredible sandwiches they make here. It’s also the best place to go to grab eggs, milk, beer — or as a place to grab your own sandwich meat to make something later for yourself.
Pete’s Country Store (Glen Spey, NY)
Looking for a bag of ice? Beer? Some extra firewood? Maybe a bag of chips or some gum? Then Pete’s Country Store is your closest and best bet. They also have a CITGO gas station here if you need to fuel up.
